RMS girls improve record

The Riverview Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team improved its record to 2-3 with a 22-14 win over Fannin County and a 22-11 victory over Lumpkin County recently.

Emily Queen led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 10 points against Fannin on Dec. 13.

Lady Eagles' scorers: Emily Queen - 10 points; Tabitha Morrison - 7 points; Ashton Abbott - 4 points and Eliza Sillesky - 1 point.

"We are taking good shots, but we are struggling with a low shooting percentage. Our goal is to gain confidence in our shooting and just play ball," said coach Rhonda Sillesky.

Against Lumpkin County on Dec. 16, Morrison led the way offensively for the Lady Tigers with 9 points.

Lady Eagles' scorers against Lumpkin were: Morrison - 9 points; Queen - 5 points, Laura Anne Branson - 4 points, Heather Brady - 2 points and Abbott - 2 points.

The team's next game will be at 5:15 p.m. Jan. 5 against cross-county rival Dawson County Middle.
