Held in check for much of the ballgame, Cullen Reed hit the biggest shot of his career. The Riverview eighth-grader grabbed a rebound off of a missed free throw, took two dribbles and launched a shot from beyond half court. The shot touched nothing but net as Coach Mark Thomason's team stormed the floor as the Eagles took a 33-32 win over Lumpkin County Middle School on Saturday afternoon.

Reed, the leading scorer for Riverview, scored just six point due to a tough defense played by the Indians.

Connor Bearden kept Riverview in the contest with a game-high 15 points in the win.

Lumpkin trailed the entire ballgame until a pair of three-pointers allowed them to take the lead with 38 seconds remaining in the game.

"It was an amazing shot," Thomason said.

Also scoring for Riverview were Ryan Gallenkamp and Derrick Nutt with three points each, Taylor Swafford and Wyatt Haase had two points each and Dawson Dominy had one point in the win.

The Eagles will host Cleark Creek at 4 p.m. Friday.
