Dawson County Middle School Coach Nichole Green's seventh grade Lady Tigers defeated Pickens County Middle, 31-30, Nov. 21.

The Lady Tigers were down by one point with seven seconds remaining when Kaylee Sticker stole the ball and scored a lay-up that gave Dawson County the victory.

Sticker ended the game as the leading scorer with 20 points.

"Pickens played an aggressive man to man [defense], and we had difficultly scoring against it. One of my ball handlers got in foul trouble early and had to come out. Kalyee Sticker took control of the game and put in some huge baskets for us. Our press forced several big turnovers at the end of the game when we needed the ball most," Green said.

Also scoring for Dawson County were: Hannah Tinsley and Frankie Muldoon with five points each, and Alyssa Douka also contributed two points in the win.

The team will travel to Riverview Middle to face off against their cross-town rivals at 4 p.m. Dec. 6.
