The Dawson County Middle School football team dropped a 22-0 decision to visiting Fannin County last Thursday at Sandy Walls Memorial Stadium.

With the loss Dawson is currently 0-2 on the season.

“My kids did not play to there best ability in the first half,” said Head Coach Thomy Edwards. “They did get a lot better the second half.”

The Tigers had a difficult time moving the ball on offense.

Turnovers were a factor that helped stop the Dawson offense.

“On offense we did not do much. The defense looked a lot better. All three of their touchdowns came from busted plays that they broke for long runs. We should have stopped them in the backfield, but could not manage to bring them down,” Edwards said.

“They both (Jake Phillips and Taylor Gaddis) looked really good tackling and playing hard on defense,” he added.

“We have a lot of work to do on offense,” Edwards said.

The Tigers will be back in action Sept. 9 as the team hosts Pickens County Middle School.

Kickoff will be at 5 p.m.
