Dawson County Middle School Cross Country Coach John Lundy's teams competed at the Clear Creek Trail Invitational Saturday in Ellijay.

Katya Bessiere won the girls race with a time of 14:06. Bessiere not only won the race but set a course record. Lady Tigers teammates Lindsey LeBaron finished in a strong ninth place followed by Sarah Teague.

The Lady Tigers were unable to compete for a team championship because they only had three girls running.

"Despite only having three girls competing, I thought they put their hearts into it," Lundy said.

For the boys, Cody Wood finished third, followed by teammates Ben McGinnis, Austin Lawson, Jared Posey, Hunter Voyles and Mitchell McVay.

"The boys worked hard Saturday as a team," Lundy said.

The boy's team finished fourth in the meet.

"Running is a difficult sport and in order to be successful at it, attitude is everything and the boys and girls had that on Saturday and made me proud," Lundy said.
