Coach Jeff Compton got a great look at his Dawson County Middle School softball team last Friday.

The Lady Tigers played a double header with Lumpkin County losing the first game, 7-5, and bouncing back to win the second game 5-4.

"I thought our entire team contributed in some way to the success we had in both game on Friday," Compton said.

Dawson County scored five runs in the fifth inning of game one, highlighted by a triple by Maggie Schandera driving in three of those runs.

"With this being our first game, the players never gave up and we had a great rally in the fifth inning," Compton said.

In the second game, Lady Tiger Brandi Williams started the game with a double. The momentum seemed to carry over to the fourth inning when Schandera connected on a three-run homer.
On this year's roster for Dawson are Brandi Williams, Hannah Tinsley, Mary Beth Farris, Sydney Estes, Isabella Tinsley, Katy Mulberry, Mackenzie Willoughby, Chloe Bennett, Kaylan Sanford, Madison Coker, Kaselyn Martin, Kendall Martin and Mia Cranford.

Up next for Dawson will be a home game with Jasper Middle School at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
