The Dawson County Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team lost a 26-6 decision to Pickens County Middle recently.

With the Nov. 17 loss, the Lady Tigers fell to 1-1 on the season.

Pickens used a tough, full-court press against the Lady Tigers.

The press led to a 13-0 Pickens County first quarter lead.

Dawson was unable to recover from the 13-point deficit.

The only scorer for Dawson County was Madison Moye with 6 points.

"We were very slow to start and let them [Pickens] get an early lead," said head coach Nichole Green. "Once we got going and realized that we could play with those girls it was too late."

Green said she was proud of her team's effort in the second half.

"I'm proud of the adjustment the girls made on defense in the second half. It slowed down Pickens game and allowed us to get our hands on some steals and rebounds we were missing in the first half," she said.

The Lady Tigers will play at 4 p.m. Thursday, at home against Fannin County Middle.
