Lady Tigers win in convincing fashion

Head Coach Tina Brown and her eighth grade Lady Tigers basketball team opened the season with a huge 43-11 victory over Riverview Middle last week.

Karlie Bearden led all Dawson Middle players in scoring with 18 points.

Haley Burgess also scored in double figures with 13.

Completing the scoring for the Lady Tigers in the Nov. 8 game were: Peytan Porter, 5 points, Brittany Griggs and Ansley Costley with 2 points each and Taylor Hammond with 1 point.

"I thought we played really well," Brown said. "We still have a lot to work on, but overall the players really hustled."

For Riverview, Katelynn Simpson scored 3 points. There were four players with 2 points each: Tabitha Morrison, Heather Brady, Savanna Skinner and Ashton Abbott.

The Lady Tigers will host Pickens Middle at 4:15 p.m. tomorrow.

Riverview will play again at 4 p.m. Nov. 29 when they host Pickens Middle.
