Head Coach Karen Spencer will begin her third year as head coach of the Dawson County Middle School softball team. Spencer conducted tryouts last week at Veterans Memorial Park. Over 30 girls participated in tryouts with only 11 players making the team.

“There was so much talent out there trying out,” Spencer said. “It was very difficult making a decision on who would be on the team.”

This year’s Lady Tiger team is: Madison Adams, Megan Brumbelow, Kaila Burt, Brittany Griggs, Kayla Harvey, Emily Hunsucker, Anela Melton, Madeline Moore, Peytan Porter, Sara Sheppard, Brandy Torres and Summer Vaughan. This year’s manager will be Cheyenne Loggins.

“My expectations are to play every game to the best of the girls’ abilities and for them to show sportsmanship in their play and play together as a team,” Spencer said. “I think we can be very competitive in our league.”

The team will open play this Friday with a game against cross-county rival Riverview Middle School at home.

First pitch will be thrown out at 4:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park.
