The Dawson County Middle School eighth grade Lady Tigers basketball team defeated cross-county rival Riverview Middle by a 38-18 score Dec. 6.

The game was played at Riverview Middle.

With the win, Head Coach Tina Brown's squad moved its record to an undefeated 4-0.

Cadey Ayers and Emma Brown had big games offensively for the Lady Tigers. The duo scored 16 and 12 points respectively.

Despite getting off to a slow start in the ballgame, Dawson County held an 8-4 lead after one quarter, both teams picked up the offense in the second half. The two teams scored the same number of points in the second quarter, with Dawson taking a slight 15-11 lead into halftime.

"We got off to a slow start," Brown said. "We had to make some adjustments at the half and come out playing much better in the third quarter."

Whatever adjustments Brown made at halftime worked extremely well as the Lady Tigers outscored Riverview 17-1 in the third quarter to open up a 32-12 lead.

Also scoring for Dawson County were: Marley Hamby and Calli Watson - four points each and Abi Chatham with two points.

The Lady Tigers will travel to take on Pickens Middle Dec. 12. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
