The Riverview Middle School seventh grade girls' basketball team suffered a heartbreaking loss to Jasper Middle School Dec. 4. The team lost by a score of 28-25.

Coach Natosha Beary's team controlled the first half and held a comfortable 17-12 lead at halftime. However, the Lady Eagle's offense went cold in the second half and allowed the Dragonettes to outscore the team 16-8.

Chloe Bennett led Riverview in scoring with 13 points. Bennett was followed in scoring by Roxie Fricton with six points; Avrey Massey added five points; and Kinsey Beaty scored one point.

"My seventh grade girls played hard much of the game," Beary said. "We got into foul trouble and struggled to stay ahead in the third quarter."

The Lady Eagles were only able to score one point in the third quarter. The score was tied at 18 apiece headed into the final period of play.

"We let them get to us mentally and our shots were just not falling," Beary said.

The team will play its next game at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lumpkin County Middle School.
