The Dawson County Middle School seventh grade girls' basketball team defeated Jasper Middle School, 37-14, Jan. 9 in Dawsonville.
The Lady Tigers took a commanding 10-2 lead after one quarter of play. Dawson County's defense then took over, the Lady Tigers defense held the Nettes to 12 points over the next three quarters to take the victory.
Coach Nichole Green's team was really impressive on defense in the second half and held Jasper Middle to only three points.
"The girls played great defense and really adjusted to everything thrown at them," Green said. "They are really learning to use each other's strengths and play together as a team. I was proud of the way individuals stepped up in different areas."
Kaylee Sticker led all scorers with 12 points for the Lady Tigers.
Also scoring for Green's team were: Frankie Muldoon with seven, Hannah Tinsley and Lindsey Lebaron both had six and Kenedy Moulder had two points.
The Lady Tigers will play their last regular season game at 4 p.m. Friday at Clear Creek Middle School.
The Mountain League tournament will begin on Jan. 21 at Fannin County Middle School.
