Dawson County Middle School eighth grade girls' basketball coach Tina Brown's team remains undefeated following two recent wins.

The team has a perfect 3-0 record after a 31-30 win over Jasper Middle and a 47-18 defeat of Pickens County Middle.

The Nov. 15 game in Jasper saw the Lady Tigers hold a close lead throughout to escape with the win.

Emma Brown led Dawson County in scoring with 11 points.

"The entire game was a close one. We are still making too many turnovers, but I am glad we are not folding under pressure and are able to hold on to these close games," Brown said.

In addition to Brown, scoring for Dawson County were: Abi Chatham with six points; Cadey Ayers, Calli Watson and Marley Hamby contributed four points each and Carley Burt scored two.

The Nov. 21 game against Pickens Middle was much easier for the Lady Tigers.

Dawson County owned a 20-13 lead at halftime over the Nettes.

Brown's team used a 12-3 run in the third quarter to blow open the lead, 32-16.

"We started off slow on offense and defense. We had to rethink our game during half time and came out playing much better during the third quarter," Brown said.

Brown and Ayers both scored in double figures for the Lady Tigers with 18 and 14 points respectively.

Also scoring for Dawson County were: Savanna Kennedy with four points; Watson and Burt with two points each and Karleigh Davenport chipped in one point.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 6 at Riverview Middle School.
