The Dawson County Middle School eighth grade girls' basketball team continues to destroy its opponents. The team dominated in a 55-10 win over Pickens Middle last week in Dawsonville.

Coach Tina Brown used a stifling full court press to open up a 16-4 first quarter lead. The Lady Tigers continued to pour it on the offense and extended the lead to 25-points at halftime, 33-8.

Haley Burgess and Ansley Costley led Dawson in scoring with 13-points each.

The Lady Tigers outscored the Dragonettes in the third quarter, 13-0, for a 46-8 advantage.

Brown was able to get valuable playing time for all her players in the 45-point win.

"We played really well," Brown said. "The players really hustled on both ends of the court. We also rebounded well, especially in the second half. We seemed to be more patient with the ball and worked it around, taking open shots and did not make as many turnovers as the first game."

Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were: Karlie Bearden - 12 points, Peytan Porter - 7 points, Brittany Griggs - 6 points, Summer Vaughan - 2 points and Lauren Burgess - 2 points.

The Lady Tigers will not play again until 5:15 p.m. Dec. 1 when they host Fannin County Middle.

Dawson is currently 2-0 for the season.
