Dawson County Middle School eighth grade boys Head Coach Jonathan Tinsley’s basketball team remained undefeated with a 48-30 win over Pickens County Middle School last Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Tigers dominated Jasper Middle School in a huge 44-12 victory.

Since Christmas, the Tigers have picked up wins over Riverview Middle School, 53-26 and Clear Creek Middle School, 39-25.

The team is currently 9-0 and will be the No. 1-seed going into the Mountain League Tournament this Friday and Saturday.

Ten different players scored against Pickens. Scoring was led by Jonathan Sanderson with eight points. Also putting up points were: Logan Burt with seven points, Colton Chester, five points, Lucas Pain, seven points, Caleb Stepp, six points, Jackson Putnam, four points and Terrell Dawson, Chase Wilson and Cameron Millholland contributed three points each. Sam Muenchen added two points.

“My Mom passed away during Christmas break. The team showed up at the funeral together. They all wore sweatbands in the next game with Mom’s initials on them. It was a very touching moment and something I will always remember. This is a testament to how close this group is,” said Tinsley.

“This is a very special group,” said Tinsley. “They are a lot of fun to coach and we keep getting better the more we play. As good as we have played the last few games, I still think we can play better.”
