The Riverview Middle School boys and girls soccer teams came away with 7-0 wins over cross-county rival Dawson County Middle School, March 1.

In the girls’ game offensively, McKay Shively, Taylor Bennett and Emily Queen played a great game and had standout performances, according to Head Coach John Lundy.

Defensively, Anna Hawkins, Sam Keeny and Tina Libao were able to shut out a quick Dawson team, he said.

“The girls started a little sluggish, but were able to pull it together for an impressive win against a good Dawson county team,” Lundy said. “The girls are working well together and starting to really understand the important rolls they each play on the team. Every player helped contribute to this great win.”

For the boys’ team, Brandon Lund, Josh Sage and Salvador Mendoza played well offensively. On defense, Josh Trammell and Gavin Brown contributed in the shutout.

Riverview will travel to Union County on Thursday before returning home with a game against Jasper Middle School March 15.

Both games begin at 4 p.m. with the girls playing first, followed by the boys’ game.
