Riverview Middle School Head Football Coach Mark Thomason and his Riverview Eagle football team remain undefeated with a 12-0 shutout of Pickens County Middle School last Thursday.

The win moves Riverview’s record to 3-0 on the season.

The Eagle defense hasn’t allowed any team to cross the goal line this season.

“Our defense played great,” said Thomason. “Our starting defense still hasn’t been scored on this year.”

Eagle defender Bruce Clark forced the Pickens team into two fumbles.

One of the fumbles led to an Eagle touchdown, when Koby Rogers scooped up the ball and crossed the goal line late in the second quarter.

The 2-point conversion was unsuccessful and Riverview held a 6-0 lead at intermission.

In the second half, Riverview’s offense went on a 14-play drive that took up most of the third quarter.

Zach Martin capped off the drive with a 5-yard TD run.

Once again, the 2-point conversion was no good. Riverview held a 12-0 lead.

The 12 points was all the Eagles needed, as they held on to a 12-0 win.

Clark had a great game on offense with over 100 yards rushing, according to Thomason.

Thomason also praised the play of Evan Kells and Martin on defense.

Rogers also collected his third turnover of the season on defense.

“We kind of struggled yesterday on offense, but our defense was outstanding,” Thomason said.

The team’s next game will be against a big Jasper Middle School team in Jasper, tomorrow.

Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
