The Riverview Middle School boys soccer team lost an exciting 2-1 decision to Clear Creek Middle School in the Mountain League Championship last Thursday at home.
Coach Phil Branson's team scored first in the game.
Eagle forward Mateo Fritz blasted a ball past the Clear Creek goalie to take a 1-0 lead with 17:18 remaining before halftime.
Riverview took the lead into halftime.
Clear Creek quickly answered with two goals in the second half. The Bobcats chipped the ball just past Riverview's goalie to tie the game with 23:20 gone in the second half.
Less than 3 minutes later, Clear Creek scored again with 20:38 remaining in the game to take a 2-1 lead.
Despite a couple of chances to tie the game, time ran out on the Eagles.
Clear Creek came into the contest with an impressive 9-0-1 mark.
The tie came against Riverview, 2-2, in the first game of the season.
This was the fifth consecutive final for the Eagles.
Riverview had captured the title three of the last four years. It is also the third consecutive year that Riverview has played the Bobcats for the title.
The Eagles finished the season with a 7-3-1 record.
