The Dawson County Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team defeated Riverview Middle School, 32-16, last week.

The Lady Tigers are 5-1 on the season while Riverview dropped to 3-4 following the Dec. 17 game.

"The girls played very well," said Dawson Middle coach Nichole Green. "I was proud of the way they kept their composure during Riverview's press. Everyone was able to get some good playing time."

Two players stood out according to Green.

"Emma Brown played a great offensive game, and Calli Watson also played well offensively and defensively," she said.

Riverview coach Rhonda Sillesky said: "We struggled making our shots and continue to turn the ball over too often."

Bre Moody led the Lady Eagles in scoring with six points. Teammates Gabby Buchan and Kati Brady scored four points each and Zoe Grindstaff added two points.

Riverview will be back in action on Jan. 10 with a game at Clear Creek.

Dawson County will also play next on Jan. 10. The Lady Tigers will take on Pickens Middle at home.

Both games will begin at 4 p.m.
