8th graders drop a close one

The Riverview Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team dropped a close 32-28 decision last week to Pickens Middle in Jasper.

With the Jan. 17 loss, the Lady Eagles are currently 4-5 on the season.

Emily Queen led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 11 points.

"We played a decent game, but could not connect with our shots," said coach Rhonda Sillesky.

The Lady Eagles attempted 51 shots, but made only 10 during the game.

Lady Eagles scorers: Emily Queen - 11 points, Tabitha Morrison - 8 points, Heather Brady - 5 points, Eliza Sillesky - 2 points and Ashton Abbott - 2 points.

Riverview will play next at 4 p.m. Tuesday when the team travels to Fannin County.
