While the varsity program celebrated a first-ever victory, the junior varsity Lady Tigers quietly went about their business coming away with multiple match wins last week.
The junior varsity team has now compiled an 8-4 overall record and were able to defeat both Pickens County (25-10, 25-6) and Central Gwinnett (25-15, 25-10) during last Thursday's tri-match at home.
"All players played excellent in all four games," said Coach Tina Brown. "I was very impressed with our passing, setting, hitting and serving."
During the second set against Central Gwinnett, Lindsey LeBaron served 8 straight points against the Black Knights.
"Every player on the team contributed to our wins," Brown said.
Multiple players contributed with a continued strong presence from the serving position.
"In our second game against Pickens, Rachael Swafford served 7 straight and Anna Dempsey served 10 straight," Brown said.
The JV team also played on Sept. 6 against West Hall and North Forsyth during a tri-match at North Forsyth High School.
They were able to pick up a win against West Hall in two sets (25-22, 25-19) but lost to North Forsyth (25-13, 25-16).
The team also opened region play yesterday, facing Fannin County and East Hall at home. Results were not available as of press time.
The JV team will travel tomorrow for 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. matches against West Hall and Brookwood.
