The Dawson County Lady Tigers Volleyball Team beat both their opponents on Thursday, Oct. 1 at the final home game of the 2020 season, without losing a single set.
Both games were supposed to be decided in best-of-three sets, but neither game made it to set three, after the Lady Tigers winning streak swept four-out-of-four sets.
Their first opponent of the night was Flowery Branch High School, whom the Lady Tigers beat 25-19 and 25-13. The Lady Tigers then went on to beat Chestatee High School 25-10 and 25-15.
In her second game back from an injury, Haylie Selzer had 14 kills, while Emma Pelfrey took home 13 kills of her own.
Earlier in the week, the Lady Tigers battled two region opponents on Tuesday, losing both matches. The first match against Cherokee Bluff went to three sets, but the Lady Tigers lost the third 15-6. The second set against Lumpkin County was a close battle that finished 32-30 in favor of Lumpkin County.
Seltzer led the team with 33 kills in their games this week, while Olivia Walls led with 53 assists, Makale Everett led with 9 aces and Emerald Sallee led with 27 digs.
The Lady Tigers will play their last regular-season match Thursday, Oct. 8 at Chestatee High School.
The team will face Cherokee Bluff in the first round of the double-elimination region tournament at White County High School on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
