The Dawson County High School football team will try to rebound this  week after a difficult start to the season.

Head Coach Jeff Lee’s Tigers will face a very physical Fannin County team this Friday night at Tiger Stadium. The Rebels come into the game with a 2-2 record with wins over Gilmer County, 17-14, and Jackson County, 28-14. They have dropped decisions to Murphy, N.C., 55-21, and Pickens County 14-10.

The Rebels were also off last week, as was all of Region 8-AA.

It will be homecoming week for the Tigers.

Students will be encouraged to participate in “Spirit Week.” This year’s theme will be “On the Road to Beat the Rebels.” Each day of the week students at the high school will be encouraged to dress in the theme of the day.

Coaches are hoping the festivities will push the Tigers to a victory. The Tigers are in the midst of a 0-4 record with losses to Pickens, Gilmer, Chestatee and Jefferson. Dawson is currently on a 9-game losing streak. They have only one win in the last 13 games. Their last win was on Sept. 25, 2009 at Rabun County, by a score of 6-0.

A homecoming king and queen will be named at halftime of this week’s game.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
