Aggressive defense and great goal keeping have allowed the Dawson County High School varsity girls soccer team to obtain a No. 5-ranking in Class AA.

The Lady Tigers have not allowed a goal in the last five games and have only allowed five goals during the course of the season.

Dawson County will enter the Region 8-AA playoffs with an impressive 12-2 overall record and a No. 1-seed from Region 8-AA North.

The Lady Tigers began the playoffs April 17 at home against Oglethorpe County.

The Lady Patriots entered the game with a 9-3 overall record. Scores were not available at press time.

Coach Jed Lacey's team had two games last week.

The Lady Tigers played host to Pickens High School on April 11. It was senior night and the Lady Tiger coaching staff honored five seniors and their parents between games.

This year's senior class includes: Carissa Perez, Morgan Huber, Morgan Collett, Emily Stowers and Brooke Shively.

The Lady Tigers allowed only one shot on goal by the Dragonettes in the 3-0 win.

Riley Cox finally got Dawson on the scoreboard after taking a pass from McKay Shively and blasting the ball past the Pickens goalie with 8:37 left before half.

Dawson's second goal came off the foot of Brittany Duffy following a corner kick. The ball was mishandled by the Pickens goalie and found the foot of Duffy to make the score 2-0 with 6:15 left.

Lacey's team put the game away with just 2 minutes gone in the second half.

Shively scored her 14th goal of the season on a pass from Allie Costley. The goal finished the scoring.

Goalie Kenna Seitz recorded the teams 10th shutout of the season.

On Friday, the team traveled to Homer to face Banks County, 1-10, and came away with a huge 10-0 win.

All 10 goals were scored in the first half.

Shively scored four goals in the game. She broke the school scoring record in a season after recording her 18th goal.

Duffy, a junior, scored three goals.

Lady Tiger teammate Brooke Duffy, a sophomore, scored two goals and has nine goals for the season. Morgan Callas added the final goal.

Goalkeeper Anela Melton got the team its 11th shutout of the season.

The Lady Tigers have posted some impressive numbers this season. The girls have scored 57 goals, while only giving up five. Both totals are new school records.

Twelve wins is the most any Dawson County soccer team has tallied in a single season.

If the Lady Tigers pulled out a win yesterday, the team will play at home this Friday. Game time had not been announced as of press time.
