The Tigers soccer team traveled to Jekyll Island March 13 - 15 to participate in the Tournament of Champions Invitational.

Head Coach Jed Lacey and his team came away with a perfect 3-0 record with wins over Jonesboro, 4-2, Jackson, 2-1 and Mt. Paran, 2-1.

Lacey and his Tigers continued their winning ways last week with two big Area 15 wins over Banks County, 2-0, on Tuesday, and Fannin County, 4-2, on Friday.

Dawson has currently won six straight games as they look to return to the state tournament again this season. Overall the team is 9-3 on the season.

In Jekyll Island Thursday night, Josh Bolz scored two goals and had an assist in the 4-2 win over Jonesboro. Mauricio Escobar and Seth Stowers both added goals from assists by Alex Cote and goalie Dane Trosterud.

Dawson continued its winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Jackson on Friday night. Cote and defenseman Ethan Brown scored for the Tigers.

The Tigers completed the sweep with a 2-1 win over Mt. Paran on Saturday.

Escobar and Kelsey Boyle found the back of the net. David Scully and Cote had assists in the game. Sophomore DJ Miolen picked up his first win in goal for Lacey’s team. It was Miolen’s first career win in goal.

“I thought our defense was remarkable,” said Lacey. “David Scully, Evan Weatherford, Ethan Brown, Cody Tobias, Cody Hall and goalkeeper Dane Trosterud all played well for us.”

Against Banks County, the Tigers took another step towards reaching a goal of returning to the state tournament for the second year in a row. Scoring goals in the 2-0 win were Escobar and Stowers, while assists were picked up by Jacob Perry and Bolz.

Lacey commented about his team: “The whole team played flawless and once again a spectacular performance was turned in by goalkeeper Dane Trosterud with his fourth shutout of the year. The fab four on defense made up of David Scully, Evan Weatherford, Cody Tobias and Ethan Brown completely shut down the Banks County offense, and showed their physical dominance again over another opponent and controlled the game from the start.”

On Friday, the Tigers traveled to Blue Ridge to take on Fannin County.

Dawson took a 4-2 decision against the Rebels. Scoring goals were Cote, Escobar, Bolz and Stowers.

Cote currently has nine goals on the season and is the Tigers leading scorer.

The Tigers will be at home Wednesday against Lakeview Academy.

On Friday, the Tigers will play host to a very strong Union County team. The Panthers come into the contest with a 6-0 record.

Both games will kickoff at 7 p.m.
