Everything seemed to be rolling along offensively for the Dawson County Tigers baseball team until Thursday against Banks County.

Earlier in the week the Tigers defeated the Leopards in Homer by an 11-8 score.

Then all of a sudden the bats went cold.

Banks County left-handed pitcher Taylor Foster threw a no-hitter against Dawson on Thursday. The game was played instead of a double-header on Friday due to inclement weather predicted for Friday. The Leopards turned around and defeated the Tigers again 6-0 on Saturday.

"I don't know what happened," said head coach Jimmy Pruett. "All of a sudden we can't get any runs. We looked hesitant at the plate, like we are guessing."

Tuesday's game was a scoring affair.

The Tigers picked up three runs in the opening frame to take a quick 3-0 lead.

Scoring for Dawson County were Logan Burt, Levi Whitmire and Colton Chester.

Burt had a big day at the plate. He tallied three hits and scored three runs.

The Tigers added runs in every inning to take the 3-run win.

Right fielder David Chester also did well. He went 2-for-2 at the plate.

Chester stole a base and was hit by a pitch. The junior outfielder scored three runs in the winning cause.

Tiger pitcher Jeffrey Partington started the game and threw 4.2 innings.

Partington recorded seven strikeouts while issuing five walks.

Coming on in relief for Partington was Preston Adams who pitched the fifth and sixth innings.

Trevor Pierce threw the seventh inning to pick up the save.

The game on Thursday was the flip-side of Tuesday's game.

Dawson put the ball in play only three times in the 1-run loss.

Saturday was more of the same.

The Tigers struck out 13 times against Leopard pitcher Brenton Ruark.

Ruark pitched a 2-hit complete game shutout that kept the Tiger hitters guessing the entire 7-inning affair.

One of the few scoring threats for Dawson County happened in the fourth inning when Pierce doubled to right center. After a bunt advanced Pierce to third, two strikeouts ended the inning.

Pruett's squad is currently 5-4 overall and 3-3 in Region 8A-AA play.

The Tigers will host Fannin County (4-6; 2-4) on Friday in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.

Dawson is currently in third place in the sub-region behind leader Union County (7-2; 4-2) and Banks County (5-5; 4-2).
