The Dawson County High School football team is preparing for the upcoming 2010 campaign. The team has been participating in workouts from 7:30-10:30 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the high school.

Around 75 athletes have been regularly attending the workouts, according to Head Coach Jeff Lee.

“I’m really pleased with the number of kids that have been coming. We should get some more in July after summer basketball is finished,” he said.

Players have been lifting weights, as well as working on agilities and speed.

“The speed program is doing very well,” Lee said.

The Tigers will finish workouts this week, before the Georgia High School Association’s “dead” period begins. In July the team will attend passing camps at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., and a two-day camp at Pickens County High School.

“We will really pick up on our throwing in July,” Lee said. “We will take a break until July when our passing camps begin.”
