It has been a very busy summer for the Dawson County High School Lady Tigers basketball team.

The team has had numerous practices and played in team camps at the University of North Georgia, Jefferson High School and Georgia College.

Several players have either been injured, had prior commitments, other sports or absences that have allowed Head Coach Steve Sweat to allow many players to get time in on the court in game situations.

"We have been able to get in lots of practice times and games since school got out," Sweat said. "Due to some injuries, absences and girls doing other sports we have not had all our varsity players in any game. But one good thing about that is many of our players are getting opportunities to play more and play in different spots on the court. Hopefully that will help them feel more comfortable in next year's games when they have to play different positions."

The Lady Tigers completed their team camp schedule last week at Georgia College. The team came away from the camp with a 5-4 varsity record.

"Almost every team we have played so far is in a higher classification than us," Sweat said. "Overall I feel pretty good with the way we have played. There are always things to work on and improve on individually and as a team."

The ladies basketball team is now finished with the team camp schedule for the summer. Practice for the regular season will begin in October.
