Bailey was the team’s heartbeat on the mound, finishing as one of the top pitchers in the region with a 3.18 earned run average — including the region tournament.

In 17 starts, Bailey finished with 87 strikeouts in over 94 innings pitched. While she frequently threw complete games, she also pitched well into extra innings in the team’s final region tournament game against White County.

Bailey also had another strong year at the plate, contributing 23 hits and 13 runs batted in with a .299 batting average.

Dotson had one of the strongest offensive seasons in the entire region, using her consistency at the plate to rack up 30 hits and a .400 batting average.

In addition to her hits and batting average, she led the team with 15 runs and a .998 OPS.

Dotson also played well in the region tournament, going 5 for 10 with two walks and helping the Lady Tigers win a game at Coal Mountain against West Hall.

Selected to the All-Region Second Team was freshman Bryce Greenwood, who fought through a mid-season injury to have an impressive season all around, finishing with a .317 batting average, 20 hits and 13 RBI.

Her youth did not prevent her from also developing a role as a vocal leader from her position as catcher.

Greenwood was the catalyst for the Lady Tigers’ region tournament win over West Hall, bringing in five runs in the 11-10 victory.

The final accolade on the DCHS softball team was for sophomore Ace Cochran, who earned an All-Region honorable mention.

Her improved hitting during the season led to a contribution that included 20 hits, 12 runs and a team-leading seven walks and three triples.
