Six named to all-region
Lacey named coach of the year

The Region 7-AAA coaches selected six Dawson County Lady Tigers to the all-region team, according to a release on May 16.

Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.

Named to the first team were: Juniors, Taylor Bennett (midfield), Anela Melton (goalie) and McKay Shively (forward).

Shively and Bennett both finished the season with nine goals each.

Melton broke the individual shutout record with 10.

On the second team were: Sophomores, Tina Libao (midfield) and Jessica Chambers (midfield). Also named was freshman Devon Coates (defender).

"I'm so proud of these young ladies for making this team," said Head Coach Jed Lacey. "Of course I'm proud of all our players from this past season."

Lacey was named Coach-of-the-Year by his peers.

Jessi Vaverka from Buford was voted player-of-the-year.

Also named to the first team were: Gabby Kennedy (Banks County), Elexa Bahr (Buford), Ceely Coker (Buford), Brie Smith (Buford), Madeline Tipton (Fannin), Tristian Bailey (North Hall), Alden Powell (North Hall), Katie Forrester (West Hall), Gabrielle Ligas (West Hall), Sarah Abad (White County), Kaitlyn Gearing (White County) and Savannah Magille (White County).
Joining the Lady Tigers on the second team were: Brooke Horist (Buford), Brittany Abt (Fannin), Sage Kafsky (Fannin), Crystal Jackson (Fannin), Morgan Land (North Hall), Emily Truelove (North Hall), Kylie Beaman (West Hall), Kate Kirkland (West Hall) and Chloe Gedney (White County).
