Runners finish in fifth place

In the fourth annual Bob Roller Invitational Cross Country meet Oct. 7 at East Jackson High School in Commerce the boys and girls junior varsity teams both finished in fifth place.

Lady Tiger Caroline Collett led Dawson County with a time of 27:06, good for 23rd place.

There were 53 runners in the event.

Following Collett were Brianna Burt (28:22), Heidi Collett (28:26), Hope Bennett (28:41), Jaylee Leete (30:17) and Claudia Santillian (30:44).

Dawson County totaled 139 team points. Mountain View High School took first place with 40 points, followed closely by Berkmar High School with 41 points.

East Jackson and Collins Hill also ran in the 5,000-meter race.

Winning the junior varsity girls race was Anna Fox from East Jackson with a time of 22:54

On the boy's side, Tiger Chris Lafontaine came in 33rd place with a time of 20:37.

There were 123 junior varsity runners in the race.
Also running for the Tigers were: Andrew Hafermalz (22:11), Gabe Cowart (22:31) and Justin Posey (24:36).

Crossing the finish line in first place was Adam Crabtree from Mountain View. Crabtree ran the 3.1-miles in 18:43.

Second place went to Joseph Cobian from Collins Hill with a time of 19:02.

The team title went to Mountain View with 21 points followed by Collins Hill with 67 points.

The Tigers amassed 171 points.

Other teams running were: Archer, Berkmar, Jackson County, Athens Academy and Oglethorpe County.
