Eight of nine Dawson County varsity girls basketball players scored in last week's 59-48 win at Union County.

Led by a double-double by Ashley Parker, 20 points and 16 rebounds, the Lady Tigers moved to 3-0 overall on the season.

Playing Union County in Blairsville is always a tough battle, according to Head Coach Steve Sweat. Last week's game was no exception.

Dawson County held a slim 16-13 lead after one quarter of play. Sweat's team extended their advantage to 30-21 at half time.

"It is always tough playing up here," Sweat said. "I'm just glad to get out of here with the win. We had balanced scoring tonight, which is a sign that we are sharing the ball."

Scoring for Dawson County were: Karlie Bearden with 13 points, Haley Burgess with eight points, Jordan Moore added six, Sheyenne Seabolt contributed five points with 20 rebounds, Erin Chatham and Peytan Porter each had three points and Katelynn Simpson finished the scoring with one point.

Dawson County played their first home game of the season yesterday against Rabun County.
