Surrounded by family and friends on May 1, senior and Dawson County soccer forward Ruthie Pittman became the second Lady Tiger to commit to attend and play soccer at Brenau University in just over two weeks.

Pittman was part of an offensive line that pummeled opponents all season as she racked up 6 goals on 29 shots, but her true contribution to the team’s success came on her 23 corner kicks (more than the rest of the team combined) which she turned into 11 assists during the season.

The daughter of Rob and Traci Jones, Pittman was attracted to Brenau based on the strength of the nursing program, the school’s long ties with Dawson County soccer and the fact that the campus is located just down the road in Gainesville.

“It’s really close to home and they have a great nursing program,” Pittman said. “Plus (Lacey) is going and (MacKenzie Callas) is already there, so I will already know people.”

Pittman was named as a member of the 7-AAA All-region second squad as the Lady Tigers finished the 2019 season as the undefeated 7-AAA regional champions with an overall record of 13-2-1 and finished the season in the Sweet Sixteen round of the GHSA state playoffs.
