The Dawson County High School varsity Lady Tiger soccer team secured a No. 2 seeding, despite dropping its last two regular season games. The team will play its first round state playoff game at home against Woodward Academy on Thursday.

Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.

Dawson County had a difficult time scoring goals last week against two quality opponents in Buford (16-0) and North Hall (8-6-2). The Lady Tigers managed just two goals in identical 2-1 losses.

Buford came into the game with a No. 2 ranking in Class AAA.

Defensively, Head Coach Jed Lacey's team looked solid and allowed just four goals in the two losses.

Wednesday's game in the Brickyard at North Hall started well with Taylor Bennett putting Dawson County up 1-0. It turned out to be the only goal of the evening for the Lady Tigers as North rallied to take the 2-1 win.

Woodward will come into Thursday's game on a seven-game losing streak.

The team has not scored a goal during that stretch and has given up 13. However, the team has played a tough scheduled, with games against the likes of: Greater Atlanta Christian, Marist, Starr's Mill, St. Pius, McIntosh and Westminster. All of which have traditionally strong soccer programs.

The winner will play either Jackson County (13-3) the No. 1 seed from Region 8-AAA or Adairsville (10-7) the No. 4 seed from Region 5-AAA.
