The Dawson County junior varsity football team lost a close decision to Gilmer County, 13-8, last Thursday at Tiger Stadium.

Dawson held an 8-7 lead at the half on a Cody Smith 2-yard touchdown run. Smith also caught a pass for the 2-point conversion from quarterback Tyler Dominy.

Dominy played the first half and was then replaced by Zach Martin in the second half at quarterback.

The second half was all Gilmer County, as the visiting Bobcats scored in the fourth quarter to come away with the 13-8 win.

With the loss, the Tigers are 1-1 for the year.

The team will play at home against Lumpkin County this Thursday.

Kickoff will be at 5 p.m.
