JV teams run well at Oglethorpe

The Dawson County High School junior varsity boys and girls cross country teams competed in a meet at Oglethorpe County High School over the weekend.

Dawson County had 27 runners competing in the Oct. 15 event. There were 82 runners from eight different high schools in the meet.

Nathan Shelp led the Tigers with a seventh place finish and a time of 20:03.

Teammates Jonathan Sanderson (20:34; 12th), Doug O'Brien (20:34; 13th), Ross Walters (20:37; 14th), Avery Cowart (20:45; 15th), Mason Carr (21;12), Eli Gloeckner (22:14), Craig Butler (22:38), Drew Keller (22:49), Cole Simmons (23:11), Mason Bearden (23:26), Tony Ramirez (23:27), Josh Trammel (23:31), Ben Drew (23:50), Matt Hamil (24:07), Eric Leonard (28:20) and Justin Posey (34:21) all ran well for the Tigers.

On the girls' side, Summer Lewis had the fastest time with a finish of (25:29).

Eight other Lady Tigers ran in the 3.1-mile event.

Bethany Auten (26:13), Christine Schmid (27:01), Sara Bywaletz (27:38), Angelica Santillian (28:33), Courtney Blair (28:42), Caroline Lee (29:51), Brooke Lewis (30:04) and Carly Glaze (37:33) competed in the event for the girls' team.
