Dawson County High School Junior Varsity Girls' Basketball Coach Anne Hyams' team improved their record to 3-2 with a 50-27 win over Banks County last week in Dawsonville.

Emma Brown had a huge night, scoring a game-high 26 points.

After a close 7-5 first quarter, the Lady Tigers outscored Banks County 23-11 in the second quarter to hold a 30-16 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Dawson County outscored the Lady Leopards 20-11 to take the victory.

Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were Abi Chatham with nine points, Ashley Stanfill with five points, Marley Hamby and Gabby Buchan added four points each and Kati Brady had two points.

"We did a better job playing defense and blocking out. I am proud of the effort that these seven freshmen put forth," Hyams said. "They are quickly adjusting to competing at the high school level and should continue to elevate their play as the season progresses."
