The Dawson County High School junior varsity girls basketball team upped its record to 2-0 with a thrilling 39-37 win at Union County Nov. 25.

Coach Anne Hyams' team trailed 20-12 at intermission. The Lady Tigers rallied to tie the game at 26-26 after three quarters.

The Lady Tigers got into foul trouble early in the game, which allowed Union County to score seven of their first 20 points from the free throw line.

Dawson County outscored the Lady Panthers 13-11 in the final quarter, behind the scoring of Emma Brown, to take the victory.

Brown finished the game with a team-high 17 points.

"The girls worked hard, played smart, crashed the boards and took care of the ball in the fourth quarter, which proved to be the difference in the game. I am proud of the effort that each player put forth," Hyams said.

Also scoring for Dawson County were: Abi Chatham with 10 points, Calli Watson added eight points; Kati Brady and Gabby Buchan each had two points.
