Golf team outswings Rabun

Maddy Caldwell shot a 2-under par 34 to lead the Lady Tigers golf team to an 87-89 victory over Rabun County last week.

In the 9-hole match played at the Lady Tigers' home course Crystal Falls on March 20, teammate Becca Dotson shot a 53, followed by Tatum Turner with a 55, and Tayler Hasbrouck with a 56.

The girls' team suffered its first defeat of the season in a match against West Hall on March 21.

Dawson lost 95-90 to the Lady Spartans at Royal Lakes Golf Course in Gainesville.

Low medalist for Dawson County was Maddy Caldwell with an even par 37.

Lady Tigers teammate Tatum Turner came in with a 58.

On the boys' side, Dawson lost to Rabun County by a 183-164 score at Crystal Falls.

Levi Samples shot a 43 to lead the Tigers.

Also scoring for the Tigers were Jake Phillips with a 44, Caleb Samples and Trevor Gordon both shot a 48. Rounding out the scoring was Casey Compton with a 49.

Against West Hall, the Tigers dropped a close 179-180 decision.

Levi Samples led the boys with a 43, Gordon shot 44, Phillips shot 45 and Caleb Samples added a 47.

The Tigers will play March 28 at Big Canoe against Pickens High School.

First tee shot will be at 4 p.m. Dawson County will then be off until after spring break.
