Free throws sink JV Tigers

Poor shooting from the free throw line spelled doom for Coach Wes Greer’s junior varsity Tigers. The Tigers converted on only 6-of-15 attempts as the team lost its opening game of the season to Lambert High School 55-46 last Thursday, Nov. 19.

The team is currently 0-1 on the season.

Dawson will not play again until Dec. 4, when the team will travel to Gilmer County for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.

Dawson was leading 22-17 at halftime. The Tigers kept their lead at four points, 36-32, until the fourth quarter meltdown.

“We let it get away from us in the last three minutes,” said Greer. “Their full court pressure and our poor decision making cost us.”

Leading scorer for the Tigers was Matt Hammond with 12 points. Tiger Bruce Clark also had a good offensive game with 10 points.

Also scoring for Dawson were: Roman Stroud-9; Josh Scaife-8; Will Anglin-5 and Gunnar Armstrong with 2-points.
