The Dawson County wrestling team had a solid day against what Coach Arron Haynes called top level competition when it traveled to the Coal Mountain Classic over the weekend.
During the Dec. 16 event at North Forsyth High School, Kelton LeBaron took the top spot at 120 pounds.
Junior Levi Baggett earned a third place in the 182 pound classification.
Two other Tigers finished in fourth place. Brandon Jones wrestled to a fourth place finish at 160 lbs and Nate Umberger was fourth at 195 lbs.
The team traveled to White County on Tuesday but results were not available as of press time.
Next up the team will host the Amicalola Classic on Dec. 29 and 30. The duals will take place on the 29th and the traditional on the 30th with start times at 9 a.m. both days.
The Tiger wrestling program is also now raising funds via its annual rifle raffle.
This year the group is raffling off a Remington 870 Express 26” 12-gauge shotgun or equivalent certificate as donated by the Appalachian Armory.
Other available prizes include one tree cut and clean up service by Misrain Tree Service, one full house cleaning by Cecilia You Help and a $50 gift certificate from Deborah’s Nail & Spa.
Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. All of the proceeds go to Tiger wrestling. Winners must be 18 or older to claim the prize and the drawing will be held on Dec. 30 at the Amicalola Classic.
