Dawson County used defensive pressure to come away with a 58-35 win over visiting Towns County in junior varsity boys action Saturday.

The game was the first of the season for Coach Wes Greer's team.

"The boys started strong by putting pressure on Towns early and causing several turnovers and turning them into quick scores," Greer said.

Jackson Morgan led all Tigers in scoring with 21 points.

Behind the pressure Dawson opened up a 17-4 lead after one quarter of play. The Tigers extended their advantage to 21-points by half, 34-13.

The Tigers were never in serious trouble the entire game and came away with the 23-point win.

Greer said he was impressed with his team's effort.

"I was happy with the way we executed our offensive sets and how we played the half court match up defense," he said.

Jesse Gee was the only other player in double figures. He contributed 10 points.

Other Tigers' scorers were: Cameron Millholland - 8 points, Steven Stanfill - 7 points, Taylor Gaddis - 6 points, Terrell Dawson - 3 points, Cullen McDonald - 2 points and Logan Crumley - 1 point.

The Tigers will take a week off for Thanksgiving and return to action at 4:15 p.m. Nov. 29 at White County High.
