The basketball teams will begi their seasons first, starting with the Dawson County Tip-Off Classic Saturday, Nov. 12.

Led by a close-knit group that includes senior Kirklyn Porter and junior Morgan Chester, the Lady Tigers will be launching the Will Anglin era with a 2:30 game against Creekview.

Anglin, a DCHS alum who most recently served as the school’s boys golf coach, is set to take over a roster that is nearly identical to last season’s.

With only one senior having left the team, Anglin inherits a group that is seeking to expand on its 17-11 record and state playoff appearance last year.

The boys basketball team is looking to return to its status as a contender in Region 7-3A under head coach Todd Cottrell. They will face River Ridge at 4 p.m.

After three consecutive region titles, the Tigers faced a challenging road last season. But returning starters such as Trey Harvey, Caden Reed and Joshua Priest will be looking to help steer the team in the right direction.

Wrestling head coach Arron Haynes will be directing a young group of wrestlers who begin their season Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Pickens. After losing key seniors Will Whalen and Holden Martin, the team is seeking to forge their identity.

The swim team, led by head coach Linda Sperin, have their first meet on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Adairsville. The team will have several juniors on the roster this season, including Grant Ledbetter and Carah Matheson.
