The Dawson County Tigers boys cross country team finished the GHSA 3A state meet at Carrollton High School on Friday, Nov. 5 in 11th place.
After finishing third in Region 7-3A, the Tigers stuck together to finish just outside of the top-10.
“The guys performed well and some really stepped up,” head coach Jonathan Tinsley said after the race. “We’re very excited about the young guys on the team, but our seniors provide great leadership that we’re really going to miss. They really took control of the team this year.”
Senior Ethan Smith led the Tigers, finishing 18th overall with a time of 17:42.08. Freshman Bailey Swafford finished second on the team with a time of 19:21.36 and sophomore Cael Hand finished right behind him, with a time of 19:21.64.
Sophomore Tyler Tangel finished fourth on the team with a time of 19:31.96 and sophomore Luke Lowe finished with a time of 19:48.13. Rounding out the team were seniors Ryan McGinnis (19.52:73) and Devin Knight (20.01:44).
