Dawson track and field qualify for state sectionals

The Region 7-AAA Track and Field Championships took place at Tigers Stadium last Wednesday and Thursday with the top four finishers in each category qualifying for the state sectionals at Greater Atlanta Christian.

Qualifying for the girls were Frankie Muldoon who was region champion in both the 800 and 1600-meter runs, Jenna LeCours who finished second in the 3200-meter run and Kaselyn Martin who finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles.

In the field events, Anna Lowe was crowned region champion in the shot put and Briana Ray finished third in the pole vault. The Lady Tigers’ 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams also qualified for state.

On the boys’ side, Noah Brock finished third in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes, Christopher Shelp finished second and third in the 1600 and 800-meter runs respectively, Cody Wood finished third in the 3200-meter run and Ethan Cameron finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.

Also qualifying for the Tigers in the field events was Carlos Keller who was the region champion in the high jump, Cooper Freeman who was the region champion in the pole vault, Cameron who was the region champion in the triple jump, T.J. Wilson who finished second and third in the shot put and discus respectively, Adam Maner who finished third in the shot put, SeVaughn Clark who finished third in the high jump and Jace Erickson who finished third in the pole vault.

Like the girls, the boys 4x100 and 4x400-relay teams both qualified for state, and both the girls and boys finished runner-up to GAC in the final team standings.
