Dawson County High School senior Tiger baseball player David Chester signed an athletic scholarship Monday to continue his career at Georgia Highlands College.

The Chargers will begin play in the Spring of 2014 under the leadership of Head Coach Mike Marra. Georgia Highlands will play in the National Junior College Athletic Association, or NJCAA.

Chester had a fine career under Head Coach Jimmy Pruett at Dawson County. This season Chester batted leadoff in 26 games for the 13-15 Tigers.

"I'm so happy and proud of Dave," said Jimmy Pruett, Tiger head coach. "I'm happy for him and his family. Georgia Highlands is getting a great guy. I'm really proud of him."

Chester batted .262 this season with 22 hits in 84 at bats. He also scored 18 runs, with seven walks and two sacrifices.

He will enroll at Georgia Highlands in the fall.
