Last Saturday in Morgan County, the Dawson County varsity competition cheer team earned its fifth straight Region 7-3A championship and 21st overall under head coach Kim Fleming.

Despite having a recent injury on the squad, the depth of talent Fleming has helped build over time allowed the Lady Tigers to continue their success.

“I am very proud of the team as a whole. They seem to be peaking at a great time,” Fleming said. “They put a very clean routine on the floor. If they can perform at state like they did at region, we should be one of the top four teams called to the floor.”

The cheer team will now move on to the Class 3A State Championship on Friday, Nov. 11, in Macon.
