The Dawson County High School boys' tennis team won two big matches last week.

On March 18 the Tigers defeated East Hall, 3-2, and on March 20 the team won a match against West Hall by a score of 3-2.

Winning against East Hall at number one and two singles respectively were, Lane Venters and Max Muldoon. For Venters and Muldoon it was their first wins of the season.

Dillard Blanton picked up the third and decisive win for Dawson County.

Thursday's match with West Hall was very close. The Spartans jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but Dawson County bounced back for the 3-2 victory.

Blanton, at number three singles, got the Tigers on the board with their first win of the match.

"I told Dillard (Blanton) that today's match rested on his shoulders. I had faith our doubles could win, but that we needed a victory at number three singles to keep us in the match," said Head Coach Ryan Coker.

After losing the first set, Blanton came back to win 6-4 in the final set for the win.

Number one and two doubles easily won their matches. Tristen Ingram and Garrett Carlisle at number one and Mahdin and Duris Walker at number two.

"We are a very young team this year with five out of the seven starters being tenth graders, but they've done a really great job stepping up when they've needed to," Coker said.
