The Tigers fell to 3-5 overall, and more importantly 2-2 in Region 8-AA play, last week.

Just when it seemed Head Coach Jimmy Pruett’s varsity baseball team was getting ready to turn the corner, the team lost back-to-back region games against Fannin County, 7-6, and Rabun County, 10-1.

Fannin County scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the victory in Blue Ridge.

The offensive highlight of the game for the Tigers was a 2-run homer by Chase Gilreath in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Ren Buttram pitched well, but was saddled with the loss.

The Tigers will have a few days to lick their wounds. Pruett’s squad will have had six days off before they return to action Thursday.

Dawson will travel to Blairsville to face the Union County Panthers.

The Tigers pummeled Union County a couple of weeks ago 10-1.

Monday, Dawson will play host to Fannin County in an important region game.

Both games will begin at 5:30 p.m.
