There will be a packed house for Friday night's Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Induction ceremony.

Announced earlier this year, the 2011 class of inductees are George Elliott, Mike Head, Harold Kite, Swayne Pritchett and Ken Ragan.

George Elliott, late of Dawson County, is the father of Dawsonville's legendary NASCAR brothers Ernie, Dan and Bill Elliott.

Both Ernie and Bill Elliott are already members of the racing hall of fame.

Local racing historian Gordon Pirkle believes it's past time for their father to join them.

"It's too long coming, in my opinion," Pirkle said. "George should have went in at the beginning. He's well-deserved of being in the hall of fame because he did so much for racing."

The 2011 induction ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. at the Dawsonville Municipal Complex, which houses the hall of fame.

The Georgia Racing Hall of Fame museum in Dawsonville is recognized by the state legislature as the official home of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, which honors prominent members of the state's racing heritage.

Reservations are required to attend the banquet. For more information, visit www.georgiaracinghof.com.
